LK Translations begins life as a one-woman operation in Director Louise Killeen’s spare bedroom with one employee. After just a few short months the business relocates to office premises in nearby Middleton to accommodate a second employee.
2005
Within just a year, LK Translations outgrows its existing space and takes up the adjacent office in the same building.
2006
Siobhan, now our Lead Translator, joins the team.
2007
We continue to retain its strong links with the further education sector, taking on more trainees on completion of their MA studies.

We continue to keep pace with technological developments by making additional investments in one of our major CAT tools.

Siobhan achieves Qualified Membership status of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (MITI), winning the John Hayes prize for the best examination piece.

LK Translations celebrates a decade in business and moves into new premises in a building it now fully owns.
2015
LK Translations gains ISO 17100:2015 certification, one of the first LSPs in the UK to do so.
2016
The company opens a dedicated business development department.
2017
LK Translations wins Business of the Year at the Rochdale Business Awards and exhibits at its first trade fair.
Louise is a speaker at the Association of Translation Companies annual conference in London.

LK Translations celebrates its 15th anniversary, kicking off the celebrations with its first podcast and a highly successful joint team training day attended by the in-house team and freelance partners.
A fitting tribute to our achievements comes in the form of Siobhan being awarded the Translator of the Year prize at the prestigious Association of Translation Companies Language Summit Awards, which are followed just weeks later by the company’s second joint team training day of the year and more official celebrations to celebrate our milestone anniversary.
2020
An unusual and challenging year for the business – like companies all over the world, the team moves its operations to temporary home-working, but its server system keeps everything running smoothly and Zoom meetings enable face-to-face communication.
2021
After a year of restrictions across the country, the team is finally able to meet up in person again in early December.
2022
The team marks two of its longest-standing members, Jenny and Catherine, reaching 10 years at LK Translations – celebrating in style with afternoon tea in central Manchester.
LKTeam Days continue with a hybrid model, allowing the in-house team to meet up in person and freelance partners to join in the training sessions online.
